Sugar Loaf trig |
Up at 6am for the trek along a foggy A40 for a couple of days in Brecon, but before reaching the hostel, I took a detour for a walk up to Sugar Loaf, near Abergavenny. And well worth the effort, it was!
The start didn't look promising, the valley where I parked was shrouded in freezing fog, but the forecast proved correct and as I ascended, I was soon in the sunshine and looking out over a panorama of surrounding peaks puncturing the cloud carpet that lay below me!

Sugar Loaf is one that I will definitely do again. It's very harsh that it is 4 metres shy of the magical 600 mark that makes it a mountain, but it looks every inch (or should I say centimetre) the part!
The last walk of 2008 had proved to be a memorable one!
